Fields of Freedom

The most precious of flowers
Blooms but once in May
Across fields of Freedom
On Memorial Day
Sown by the hands of Patriots
Liberty's seeds renew
Across fields of Freedom
A vivid red, white and blue
War cares not who's right or wrong
It feeds upon our fears
Thus the fields of Freedom
Endures a rain of tears
I stood in silence amidst the blooms
Each by a name in stone
For within the fields of Freedom
America's seeds are sown
Keep in prayer the fallen
And all whose souls yet roam
May they find the fields of Freedom
May they find their way back home
Dedicated to my Father In Law, Marcel Campredon, W.W.II Veteran.
While paying my respects on Memorial Day it occurred to me that
every flag by each Veteran was as but one 'bloom' within a field
of Freedom.
