Mrs. Claus

The North Pole was busy as time drew near
To one special day that came every year
They’ve been filling the sack and loading the sleigh
The Elves have been working all night and all day

In his workshop Santa checked his list
So many children, not a one must be missed
From upstairs she said, ‘Check it twice, for goodness sake’
‘We wouldn’t want to make a mistake’

Santa let out a Ho, Ho, Ho
Then said to an Elf, ‘She’s right, you know’
Pondered to think, saying after a pause
‘What would I do without Mrs. Claus?’

She takes care of Santa, keeps food on the shelves
Reads bedtime stories to all baby Elves
She tends to the Reindeer, helping supervise
That all are healthy, that each truly flies

While Santa’s away, making his rounds
She patiently waits to hear those sounds
The clicking of hooves, the little bells jingle
The Ho, Ho, Ho of her own Kris Kringle

All was ready with Santa and sleigh
The Reindeer were anxious to whisk him away
Yet Santa insisted that all gather near
There was something important he felt they should hear

He said, in a voice so proud and true
‘This, my friends, is long overdue’
‘I thank you all for a job well done’
‘But please allow me to single out one’

‘She’s always helped make dreams come true’
It was then the Elves and Reindeer knew
Everyone joined in a mighty applause
As Santa smiled and said, ‘Thank you, Mrs. Claus’
